Matt Sterne is a creative director/director from Sydney, Australia.

Growing up as a young performer in a musical family, Matt had several major roles in school concerts and a 'Midday Show with Ray Martin' television appearance with a kids choir alongside the legendary Billy Thorpe. While his last cameo in more recent years began as a last minute favour playing the role of quirky Swedish furniture designer, 'Alvar Karlsson' in several ad campaigns for IKEA. This extroverted, performance background gives Matt an ability to step into actor's shoes and guide performance craft in a hands on, collaborative and friendly approach.

His unique style of documentary film making extends his commercial spot direction with an instinct to connect deeply with people and extract engaging narratives that move the viewer and position brands, products and services in a positive light.

Having been a highly successful advertising creative director and agency co-founder (Two Mad Cowboys) for the much of his career, Matt has an instinct for the client/agency relationship and helping nurture this along the way to get to an effective outcome. With a multi-versed background, he is skilled in concept development, script and deep narrative writing, directing and post-production technique.

Matt's directing and diverse creative work out of Sydney and London has been awarded across the globe with the most recent recognition on The Gruen Pitch (trophy winner 2022).

On weekends you can find him exploring the great outdoors in any way shape or form, capturing film and photography or keeping busy with his 4 year old son, Remy.
